To: Region 3 ExCom, Region 3 Sections From: Pat Donohoe, Region 3 Educational Activities Chair Subject: Educational Activities Committee Report Date: 31 March 2005 IEEE is seeking to institutionalize the Teacher In-Service Program (TISP), a program piloted in Region 3 by the Florida West Coast Section. In support of this initiative, Region 3 is seeking Section volunteers to participate in the TISP and attend a Teacher In-Service Program Training Workshop to be held on July 23, 2005 in Atlanta, GA. Travel expenses to the workshop will be covered by IEEE Educational Activities. Our goal is to train volunteers from 20 Sections within Region 3 (a maximum of 20 slots are available at the training workshop). Section Chairs should send the name and e-mail address of their Section volunteer to Pat Donohoe (p.donohoe@ieee.org) by April 15. The TISP intitiative will be promoted at various meetings during Southeastcon 2005. Several Region 3 Sections participated in pre-college promotional activities during Engineers Week including the Richmond and Hampton Roads Sections. The Hampton Roads Section has also been active in outreach to the local pre-college community by developing relationships with local educators in an effort to encourage high school students to pursue careers in science and engineering. -- ____________________________________________ J.
