R3 Leadership Development Report 4 April 2005 In late 2004, the LD Chair held a training session in Atlanta as part of the LDO (Leadership by Developing Others) project and worked with the Conferences Chair to help train the SoutheastCon 2005 committee to continue to prepare for a successful conference. Plans for 2005 include: 1. Continue to support the LDO project by providing training to target groups. In this role I will be providing required training to all committee and area/council chairs on Friday afternoon (4/8) from 1-5 PM; 2. Develop and deliver "basic training" for Region-level volunteers for rollout in the 2006 R3 Excom (with possible development training in 2005) 3. Support other R3 committees as requested to develop our leaders 4. provide multiple leadership development workshops as requested by the areas and councils A workshop was held for the Virginia Council on January 29 in Richmond. There are also tenative plans to hold training in Memphis later this year for both LD and conference management in anticipation of that section's hosting of SoutheastCon 2006. I am open to providing other sessions in other areas as requested. I have been invited and accepted to speak at SC05 this fall on the topic of Leadership Development, so you have a good chance of seeing me at Tampa! Last but certainly not least, Andy Shulick of Richmond has agreed to continue as the LD Vice Chair. Expect to see him take an ever-increasing role in region LD as the year progresses. Charles J.
