IEEE Mississippi Section Report Ð April 2005 The Mississippi Section started 2004 as a very active year. The section already had three very successful multi-part section meetings to date for the year including the another very successful E-Week luncheon, two plant tours, and two section dinner meetings. The January 20thth meeting was dinner and a plant tour of Time Warner Cable in Jackson Mississippi. The E-Week luncheon held on February 24th in Vicksburg, Mississippi had an attendance of just under 200 people, with four corporate sponsors. Lawrence H. Roth, Deputy Executive Director A. S. C. E., was the main guest speaker. Other E-Week activities included IEEE members visiting local junior high and high schools in both Vicksburg and the greater Jackson Mississippi area promoting engineering as a career path. The March 17th meeting was dinner section meeting and a plant tour of Natchez Electric, a large industrial electric motor repair facility in Jackson Mississippi. Two section meetings and plant tours are scheduled for this spring and three more section meetings and plant tours are in planning for this fall. No meetings will be held during the months of June, July, August, and December according to the Mississippi SectionÕs bylaws. The next scheduled meetings for the spring are two dinner section meetings with plant tours of Ergon, a refinery in Vicksburg Mississippi, and SmartSynch, a remote meter reading system vendor in Ridgeland Mississippi.
