Region 3 Public Information Officer (PIO)

(1)   I  attended the 2005 IEEE-USA Leadership Workshop in Tucson, AZ
with a "focus" on various "PR" initiatives. I had a display table at the
conference including two (2) small stand-up displays. One display
involved the simple steps for using local print and broadcast (TV/radio)
media to promote local section meetings and related activities; the
second display (example) was to encourage sections to promote IEEE
membership at their meetings. The display included various IEEE
materials and a collection of pictures from past IEEE-USA conferences,
with a "focus" on Region 3. Working with Adeeb Hamzey (Region 3 PACE
Coordinator), a group picture of the Region 3 attendees was organized.
Pictures sent to Quang Tang  NL Editor for use in Region 3 Newsletter,
and Chip Dawson for use on Region 3 Web page. Also, Official IEEE-USA
Photographer made a group picture.

(2) Newsletter submissions: Sent electronic pictures of those in Region
3 receiving awards at IEEE-USA conference to Quang Tang for use in NL.
Also, worked with Adeeb Hamzey (Region 3 PACE Coordinator) and he
submitted an article directly to Quang Tang for possible use in Region 3
NL, with a "focus" on Region 3 PACE participation. I also prepared and
sent an article to Quang for possible use in NL (with pictures). The
article was titled " Simple Displays for Promoting IEEE and Section
Activities." Article is enclosed (as an attachment) along with the
"graphic" (as an attachment) for the small IEEE display poster to
promote membership.

(3) Organized electronic pictures, along with caption information,
regarding Region 3 participation at IEEE-USA Leadership Workshop and
sent to Chip Dawson for use (as appropriate) on the Region 3 Web Page.
Pictures of the four (4) people from Region 3 receiving awards at the
IEEE-USA event were included.

(4) I sent, separately, pictures directly to those in Region 3 receiving
awards at the IEEE-USA Leadership Workshop. Other pictures were also
sent to various IEEE individuals (as appropriate).

(5) Participated in recent TISP conference call (i.e. D.G. Gorham and
others), and made recommendations concerning the use of "PR" to support
their effort.
