SOUTHCON BOARD Report to Region 3 ExCom Meeting, July 9, 2005 Southcon had a good show this last February generating a small surplus.Ê At this time the Southcon Board has not decided to make a distribution to its owners.Ê I feel that there will be a small distribution later in the year. For the 2006 Show, March 7-9, 2006, in Orlando we already have 17 booth reservations with deposits made.Ê The current goal is to have at least 100 booths for the 2006 show.Ê We are also planning an improvement to the educational activities for the 2006 show, with increased on the floor vendor workshops and other vendor courses in a classroom setting. As we found out running a show with out a full fledged contractor requires a lot of work by the Board of Directors.Ê The staff consisted of a paid show manager and two sales persons, one of which doubled as the technical conference coordinator.ÊÊÊ With a lot of work by all we should have a better show in 2006, again co-located with AMCON.Ê This better show, with increased booth sales, should increase the surplus.
