We began the year judging in the North Alabama Regional Science and Engineering Fair (NARSEF), MATHCOUNTS, Alabama Science and Engineering Fair, and Alabama Council for Technology in Education (ACTE). Additionally, the Section sponsored the Alabama Science and Engineering Fair at the Category Level in response to their critical need and continued support of the local HATS STEDTRAIN K-12 seed grant program. The Section is proposing to host the Alabama State Future Cities Competition. We have also set up an email alias to make sure these educational event planners can contact us when our ExCom changes: hsv@ieee.org. The kick-off meeting for SouthEastCon 2008 Committee was held in May. The Section supported the UAH Student Branch in the SouthEastCon 2005 Hardware Competition placing 2nd. Plans for next years competition are underway as well including entries in the other SouthEastCon competitions and Alabama A&M also plans to compete this year. The new Robotics Committee formed this year has been very busy in planning for the 2006 SouthEastCon events. Submitted by Keith Jadus Chair, IEEE Huntsville Section
