Lexington Section Fall Report 2005 Ê Chair:Ê Melissa Gray Vice-Chair:Ê Regina Hannemann Secretary:Ê Jerry Goerz Treasurer:Ê Don Hill Ê Past Chair:Ê Ray Williams Awards:Ê Elwood West Newsletter Editor:Ê Ray Williams Webmaster:Ê Tom Seeley Membership Development:Ê Don Hill Professional Activities:Ê Don Hill Ê 2005 has been a successful year for the Lexington Section with eight general membership meetings and two executive committee meetings.Ê Ê January Ð Presentation/tour of Eastern Kentucky Power CoopÕs new telecom system February - Sponsorship of University of KentuckyÕs Student Paper Contest March - Properties of natural gas and dangers of carbon monoxide April - Tour of the University of KentuckyÕs Visualization Center May - Fun night out at the Lexington Legends minor league baseball game.Ê August - Annual picnic, joint meeting with University of Kentucky students September - Tour of Square D electrical and industrial control equipment plant Ê Our most popular and most attended meeting this year was in August when the Toyota Motor Sales in Cincinnati gave an Overview of Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive along with a preview of the Toyota Highlander hybrid vehicle in August.Ê This meeting drew a lot of interest with ToyotaÕs hybrid vehicle production expansion in central Kentucky. Ê The Lexington Section has sent out meeting announcements using the IEEE e-notice since April with great success as we have reached members that have never attended our meetings before. Ê We will hold two more meetings this year for the general membership; one technical meeting and one social meeting.Ê Our social meeting will be a joint Holiday celebration with the Louisville Section. Ê We continue to strive forÉ more volunteer participation and membership development and are still looking at the possibility of establishing a GOLD society and/or technical society in our area.Ê Ê Respectfully submitted, Melissa Gray
