IEEE Miami Section Report to 
Region 3 and the Florida Council Meetings at Sections Congress 
October 13-17, 2005 
Tampa, Florida


Accomplishments and Activities 
Ê 
1. The section is continuing its activities in the form of technical and
administrative activities as well as community relations.

2. The section conducted the 2005 Future City Competition for the State
of Florida last January 17, 2005 with more than 40 schools participated.
We are continuing activities for next year Future city Competition in
January 2006.

3. The section is participating as a supporter to several minority
school programs which are funded by the department of education through
the multi- year Gear-up Program to help young school kids form poor
areas seek science and engineering field. Section members give lectures
and presentation, classroom activities and projects as well as
mentoring.

4. The FIU student branch is participating in all the Southeastcon'06
competitions. The Student branch at UM is also active and reported
several activities.

5. Eight section and chapter technical meetings were already held since
April, 2005. We also have several activities planned for the next
several weeks. We are also planning social and award events in the next
few weeks.

6. The section is co-sponsoring the IEEE/CEFC conference, April 30-May
3, 2006. This is one of the main conferences of the Magnetics Society.

7. The section is also participating in the organization of the annual
conference of the Applied Computational Electromagnetic Society (ACES
2006) in March 2006.

The section will continue to be very active and will participate in many
activities that benefit the members and enhance our interaction with the
community. We will also continue to seek organizing conferences that
will benefit our members and our profession.
