The section already had six very successful multi-part section meetings to date for the year including another very successful E-Week luncheon, four plant tours, and six section dinner meetings. The January 20th meeting was dinner section meeting and a plant tour of Time Warner Cable in Jackson Mississippi. The E-Week luncheon held on February 24th in Vicksburg, Mississippi had an attendance of just under 200 people, with four corporate sponsors. Lawrence H. Roth, Deputy Executive Director A. S. C. E., was the main guest speaker. Other E-Week activities included IEEE members visiting local junior high and high schools in both Vicksburg and the greater Jackson Mississippi area promoting engineering as a career path. The March 17th meeting was also a dinner section meeting and a plant tour of Natchez Electric, a large industrial electric motor repair facility in Jackson Mississippi. The April 28th meeting was a section dinner meeting in Jackson Mississippi for host by Mississippi State UniversityÕs robotics team winner of the IEEE SoutheastCon 2005 student robotic competition. The May 18th section meeting was a section dinner meeting and a plant tour of SmartSynch, a remote meter reading system vendor in Ridgeland Mississippi. The September 22nd section meeting was also a section dinner meeting and a plant tour of Ergon Inc., a refinery in Vicksburg Mississippi. Two more section meetings and plant tours are scheduled this year for October and November. At the October section meeting, initial nominations will be received for the election of the sectionÕs 2006 officers.
