Subject:    Richmond VA Section Report for the 3rd Quarter 2005   Our officers for the 2005 year are:                  (www.ieee.org/richmond) Chair:            Andrew P. Shulick, P.E., PMP, MBA, IEEE Senior Member Vice Chairman:    Mark F. Walker Treasurer:        Gregory B. Tait, Ph.D., IEEE Senior Member Secretary:        A. Vennie Filippas, Ph.D.   Activities: Section Meetings: -- Summer break for June, July, and August -- September – Career Management of Virginia provided the Richmond section with an overview of a career development and management program -- October - Prime Photonics provided the Richmond section with an overview of Fiber Optic Sensors for Harsh Environments.   Other items -- PE 31 has been active in 2005 and is planning a meeting and training event before the end of 2005. -- The Richmond “Women in Engineering Affinity Group” is very active and a very positive value adding group to the section and members.   -- Ralph Russell,II was very successful in coordinating the July 2005 National Scout Jamboree at Fort A.P. Hill in Caroline County, VA. -- Lynn Simms coordinated IEEE representation at the 2005 Girl Scout National Council Session/ 50th Convention, Georgia World Congress Center, Atlanta Georgia  October 7 – 9, 2005   -- Planning activities continue on Southeastcon 2007.   Section Goals: --Continual support of our two student branches – Virginia Commonwealth University and Virginia State University --Increase participation of membership in meetings and activities --Provide value added monthly programs for the membership --Increase and enhance communications to the membership --Cultivate public awareness of the IEEE organization and its membership   Respectively submitted, Andy Shulick IEEE Richmond VA Section 2005 Chair
