Accomplishments Thus far in 2005 Ê 1. We have had 7 section meetings to date, with two more planned for October and November. Attendance continues to average approximately 35. The meeting lectures have varied in subject matter from nanotechnology to commercialization of inventions. Ê 2. The EMBS/SP Chapter has had some difficulty getting off the ground. The executive committee will meet in late 2005 to decide if we should continue the effort to establish this chapter. Ê Overall, the section is doing well. Thanks in large part to the efforts of Vice Chair, Ersin Bayram who found all the lecturers for our meetings in 2005. In addition, our newsletter and website editors have made a significant contribution in distributing promotional information well in advance of the meetings via email and hard copy. Finally, Wake Forest University Medical Engineering has been vital to the sectionÕs success by providing excellent facilities for the meetings. Ê GOALS for the remainder of 2005 Ê 1. Hold elections to establish Section Executive Committee for 2006. Ê 2. Continue to upgrade qualified members to senior status. Ê 3. Hold section meetings in October and November. Ê 4. Plan for 2006. Ê Respectfully Submitted, Jim Kemerling Winston-Salem Section Chair
