Area 8 Chair's Report for January 2006 Excom Meetings

I recommend that Dr. Anthony Richardson of the University of Evansville be reappointed
as Area 8 Vice Chair for 2006. Dr. Richardson has agreed to serve in that office if
appointed by the Region Director.

I will be out of the country, teaching at Harlaxton College in England, from August
through December in 2006.

Area 8 Chair's Goals for 2006 are:

1. to develop effective communication with the three sections in Area 8.  
2. to encourage all sections to submit reports on time. (Meetings, Officers and
   Financial)
3. to make contact with all section chairs within Area 8 at least four times this year.
4. to ensure that all sections are aware of, and encourage them to send a
   representative to Southeastcon 2006.
5. to encourage all section officers to participate in leadership training
   opportunities.
6. to encourage the Evansville-Owensboro and Louisville Sections to establish a section
   website.
7. to help the Evansville-Owensboro Section to resume a regular monthly meeting
   schedule.
       
As a result of combination of factors, the activities of the Evansville-Owensboro
Section were substantially reduced during 2005. A primary reason was that a key officer
took a sabbatical leave and returned to graduate school, leaving very little time for
organizational and promotional endeavors. However, the section still participated in
its important role of supporting the students of the University of Evansville and the
University of Southern Indiana. Monetary contributions to the student sections were
maintained at their expected level. Several regular section meetings were held, and the
University of Evansville Engineering Banquet in February and the October meeting were
particularly well attended.
