Vennie Filippas, Ph.D. Activities: Section Meetings: -- October - Prime Photonics provided the Richmond section with an overview of Fiber Optic Sensors for Harsh Environments. -- November - Khristopher Kammer, Strategic Engineering Manager for Siemens Energy & Automation provided the Richmond section with an overview of ISA 95 standard and Manufacturing Markup Language (B2MML). -- December - Planning Fundamentals for Retirement and Health Care was presented by Larry Grogan, President of Grogan Advisory Services. -- PES group held a meeting in December on ABCÕs Of Arc Flash which was presented by Dan Hollingsworth of OBERON. -- New Section officers were elected in December. Other items -- Planning continues for Feb. 2006 Engineers Week -- Planning continues for the 10th Annual ChildrenÕs Engineering Convention in Richmond to be held during the end of Engineer's Week. This event is to expose K-5 continues for the Engineers' Day at the Science Museum in Richmond. The event is to introduce Junior High and Senior High students to the various engineer disciplines. -- Planning activities continue on Southeastcon 2007. Section Goals: --Continual support of our two student branches - Virginia Commonwealth University and Virginia State University --Increase participation of membership in meetings and activities --Provide value added monthly programs for the membership --Increase and enhance communications to the membership --Cultivate public awareness of the IEEE organization and its membership Respectively submitted, Andy Shulick IEEE Richmond VA Section 2005 Chair
