Area 8 Chair's Report for April 2006 Region 3 Meeting 

Dr. Anthony Richardson of the University of Evansville is now acting as Area 8 Vice
Chair for 2006. Dr. Richardson previously agreed to serve in that office if appointed by
the Region Director, but has not received any confirmation. Dr. Richardson will be
present at Southeastcon and will attend some of the Region 3 meetings.

I will be out of the country, teaching at Harlaxton College in England, from August
through December in 2006. If Dr. Richardson is confirmed as the Area 8 Vice-Chair, he
will assume the chair during that period.

As a result of combination of factors, the activities of the Evansville-Owensboro
Section were substantially reduced during 2005 and this situation continues in 2006. A
primary reason was that a key officer took a sabbatical leave and returned to graduate
school, leaving very little time for organizational and promotional endeavors, and the
other officers failed to continue to lead the section. The officers plan to revive
section activities in the late summer and fall of 2006. The section continues in its
important role of supporting the students of the University of Evansville and the
University of Southern Indiana. Monetary contributions to the student sections have been
maintained at their expected level. The section provided financial support for the
University of Evansville Engineering Banquet in February, 2006.
