Central North Carolina Section 2005 Report After the 2-year's preparation and full time effort on making a successful SoutheastCon in 2004, the 15 to 20 person core of volunteers fell into the same, but not too pleasant feeling of --- TIME OUT. Well not everyone.! This past year, volunteers from RF Micro Devices (Tony Ivanov) and Analog Devices (Mike Hughes) (2 of this area's largest employers of engineers) got together to form a triple society - IEEE MTT/ED/SSC Central North Carolina Joint Chapter. Another group of Volunteers, headed by Lonnie Baxley, formed a working group to start a TISP program with local schools. Many meetings later, there is a core of volunteer engineers and Middle School teachers ready to begin with next August school start. Our regular technical meeting held every other week in conjunction with live presentations from NCA&TSU or Duke University continued this Fall and we will join in the Fitzpatrick Institute Lectures from Duke in 2006. Other meetings this past year were with other Technical or Engineering Societies that focused on E-Week Banquet and the Mars Rover. The two Central Section delegates to Sections Congress gave an interesting talk on that very exciting weekend. Our effort to get younger engineers is paying off. By next year we hope to have only us Life Members on the Local board only as observers/advisors. Marvin M. Neiditz, Sec./Treas.
