We will be spending effort in the first six months holding regularly schedule meetings and assessing the attendance based on speaker. We have determined that our current meeting location is central to the section population's mailing address. The section chair has meet with each Society chapter to discuss meetings, speakers, organization, and support. By the end of 2006 we should have "a well oiled machine" to serve as the base of the section. In 2007 we will start expanding our activities, like professional development and outreach. Goals: At our planning retreat we identified several six month goals: 1. Strive to understand the membership, and try to answer the following questions: * What do members expect from the IEEE Charlotte Section? * Will they attend meetings, where, when, and what content? * How do we best reach the current and potential members and promote IEEE? 2. Hold regular Section meetings every third Thursday for the month: Food 6:30, Talk 7:00 - 8:30 p.m., at UNC Charlotte. Each Chapter will be responsible for content (Jan - CompSoc; Mar - CommSoc, Apr - PES). Mar 16 meeting - Charles Lord - 802.15.4 and Zigbee. 3. Develop a plan to reach Middle School, High School, and college/university students. 4. Formalize a mission statement and vision for the Section.
