To: Region 3 ExCom and Region 3 Committee From: Bill Ratcliff, Director - Elect 2006-2007 Subject: Ratcliff's Remarks March 2006 Have you noticed that 2006 has been unfolding rather quickly? Or is it just me? At any rate we are already up to SoutheastCon and Memphis. I hope your travel plans are already set and you are ready for the stimulating discussions that can hopefully get all of us closer to understanding the root causes and finding solutions to the challenges we all face. Here are some of the topics to begin thinking about before the meetings begin... 1) How can we support the following Region 3 Initiatives for 2006 that can have a positive impact for the member... - Improve use of existing capabilities - R3 Awards and Recognition-Randall - Engineer Region 3 Organization and Operations - R3 Help Desk - Marshall - Knowledge Capture and Document Management - Lord - Enhance Volunteer Recruitment - McClure and Ratcliff - Membership Initiative - Stogner - Leadership by Developing Others - Lord and Riddle - Teacher In-Service Initiative - Donohoe - Embrace Flat World Reality - Duggan - Enhance R3 Capability to Increase Income - Hickman Seek out the above individuals and discuss how you can help. 2) How can we all develop better coordination, linkage and understanding within the Region? within IEEE? 3) If you believe that "The Member is IEEE and IEEE is the Members"? How can we help each other to live those beliefs? 4) What are your 3 greatest accomplishments? 5) What is your single largest frustration? That should be enough for starters. No matter how many IEEE meetings I attend a common thread emerges... you / we the members are the most important part of IEEE. See you in Memphis. _ |_)0 |_)||_|_ William B.
