IEEE Huntsville Section 2006 April Section Summary Report Web Site: https://www.ieee-huntsville.org, email: hsv@ieee.org Section Officers: Chair Keith Jadus Vice Chair Willie Fitzpatrick Treasurer Courtney Spivey Secretary Will Goins Member at Large Wayne Wolf, Frank Parris Past Chairs Sonya Hutchinson, Eric Grigorian Active Society Chapters or Affinity Group Chairs Aerospace Electronics and Systems (AES) Buddy Bishop Joint Communications/APS/MTT (JCAMS) Hans Schantz Computer (CS) Daniel Chang Controls Systems (CSS) Charles Bishop Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Glenn Shelby Engineering Management (EMS) Sonya Hutchinson Graduates of the Last Decade (GOLD) Jeff Cotten The Section has continued to host monthly ExCom meetings. The Societies have been quite active with regular meetings and the EMC Society is hosting a one-day tabletop event in July. Additionally, GOLD has been working outside the box to set up unique sessions and EMS has been teaming with other Management Societies. Additionally, one of our members is being recognized as R3 Outstanding Engineer. The Educational Activities Committee has already been quite active in 2006. We began the year judging and sponsoring the North Alabama Regional Science and Engineering Fair (NARSEF) and Alabama Science and Engineering Fair (ASEF), and judging for the Alabama Council for Technology in Education (ACTE). The Section also continues support of the local HATS STEDTRAIN K-12 seed grant program. The Section is proposing to host the Alabama State Future Cities Competition in 2007. The SouthEastCon 2008 Committee is holding monthly meetings planning. The venue looks to be very exciting, as the anticipated location is under new construction. The Section is supporting the UAH Student Branch at the SouthEastCon in various competitions. As many Sections in the Region, we are also challenged with a reduction in membership and increase in arrears members. In some better news, we have upgraded 3 members this year and 11 last to Senior Member, as well as submitting 2 Fellow applications. Respectfully Submitted by Keith Jadus Chair, IEEE Huntsville Section
