Southcon Report to Region 3 The 2006 show in Orlando was not a financial success. Revenue booth sales were down 25%, from 64 to 48 booths. AMCON, with who we co-locate was also down. The trade show business is down in almost all fields across the country. Wescon is gone. We ended up operating the show at a loss, which will reduce the Southcon reserves. We are not sure how big the loss will be. We are still getting and paying bills. What this means to Region 3 and Florida Council, co-owners of Southcon is that there will be no surplus to distribute this year and probably not in the foreseeable future. The Southcon Board met briefly during the show. We did not make any decisions at that meeting other than to meet July 1, 2006 At the July meeting we plan to review an in depth report of our situation. To this end our sales people are surveying our vendors and the market. We and AMCON do have space reserved with the exhibition hall. Tentative dates are April 11-12, 2007.
