To: Region 3 ExCom From: Pat Donohoe, Region 3 Educational Activities Chair Subject: Educational Activities Committee Report Date: 22 May 2006 IEEE Educational Activities is preparing to roll out a significant new member benefit in the IEEE Expert Now program. IEEE Expert Now represents a collection of the best of IEEE conference tutorials, short courses and workshops delivered in one-hour online modules. These professionally produced modules, developed by recognized experts, are delivered via an easy to use player-viewer incorporating audio and video files, diagrams, animations and automatic place marking. The Expert Now modules will be available world-wide, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and offer continuing education credits. Currently, IEEE members can try selected modules in Expert Now for free (and gain continuing education credits) via their member web access at: https://www.ieee.org/web/education/home/index.html These free-trial courses will be available until September 15. Once the individual member sales begin, the cost per course to members will be $69.95. Currently, there are approximately 50 modules in the Expert Now library and IEEE expects this number to grow significantly over time. In addition to single member sales, IEEE will encourage Sections to utilize these modules as Section meetings (a pilot project involving the Singapore Section is scheduled for August 2006).
