Section / Chapter Support: 1) The Electronic Communications Coordination Subcommittee is directly involved in several projects that can have a profound impact to how we work together. a) Collaboration Initiative testbeds... The evaluation of several available computer software packages that support a collaborative working environment including on line communities. b) Organization Unit Management... See Dave Green's report for details c) WEB site Development tools experience and practices. 2) Please send your section's experiences regarding electronic communications to Bill Clayton w.clayton@ieee.org (R3 ECCS Representative) 3) A special project on the Value of Volunteering has been created... An ad hoc committee was formed to develop a process on how to increase/grow volunteers within IEEE. In the short term to investigate opportunities for enhanced communications, recruitment and support to volunteers. In the longer term to grow and develop a base of volunteers and volunteerism as a norm in IEEE. 4) Identification of the characteristics of the factors affecting the of health organizations. As referenced in Director McClure's Report the compilation of best practices is a part of the effort. The intent is to help improve all of our operations on a continuing basis as opposed to only when problems occur. Region 3 Areas and Councils: The Areas and Council Chairs have been meeting several times in an effort to continue the spirit of cooperation that was renewed at the face to face meetings at SoutheastCon in Memphis (The Fellowship of the 9). Concentration on the health of the Sections has been a continuing agenda item. It is hoped that sections will maintain close contact with the Area / Council Chair as a resource, point of contact for sharing experiences, cooperation with other sections... For additional detail please note the individual reports of the R3 Area Council Chairs Region 3 Initiatives: The Fall meeting is another opportunity to become involved in the Initiatives 2006-2007.
