Most technical meetings in the Atlanta Section are hosted by its Society chapters and special-interest chapters. This year, the Section hosted the annual banquet in June, other then monthly ExCom meetings. Here are some of 2006 activities: 1. The Section revamped its website. 2. As its part of “Teacher In Service” and “Outreaching” efforts, the Section coordinated a mentoring program for students and presented a picture of what engineering is about in October at ADEAC 2006. 3. The Section coordinates and supports the PSCE (Power Systems Conference & Exposition) awards for students in October 2006. 4. The Section plans to coordinate the ZigBee and IEEE 802.15.4 Tutorial in November. 5. The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair will be in Atlanta in 2008. The IEEE Presidents’ Scholarship will be presented at the event. The Section’s K-12 chair will be the Chief Judger and the panel will be formed to choose the Scholarship winners. 6. The Section is forming a committee and plans to submit a bid to host SouthEastCon 2009. 7.
