Gholam (Ali) Shaykhian of NASA's Shuttle Processing Directorate gave a
lecture entitled "Genetic Algorithm for Optimization: A Tutorial
Presentation" at the October meeting of the Canaveral Section. The
lecture featured a tutorial on using Matlab to develop genetic
algorithms.

The Canaveral Section may have one more technical meeting in November.
We are in the planning stages for our traditional holiday banquet in
December. 

As a member of the Canaveral Council of Technical Societies (CCTS), the
Canaveral Section is participating in the planning and organization of
the upcoming 42nd Space Congress conference in 2007. The theme of Space
Congress will be "Growing the Next Generation of Scientists and
Engineers." CCTS has a host of excellent recommended topics that range
from personal commercial and human space flight to supporting technical
research and education needs. We invite everyone to submit papers for
presentation at Space Congress. Abstracts for papers are due back to the
Technical Review Board by November 20, 2006. For more information, see
