28 October 2006 The communications committee meets regularly on the IEEE IRC server, typically every two weeks. In addition to the operations of the newsletter and public information, covered by separate reports, we have a number of other exciting accomplishments. The most visible is our Region 3 Blog, https://ieeer3.blogspot.com/. By now, everyone has heard of web logs, blogs. Region 3 has introduced a blog aimed at our volunteers. This fits between the newsletter, reaching the entire membership, and our virtual community, closed to the public. We have begun review of Web site content. Each meeting we review a single page or section related to the Communications Committee and submit changes to our Webmaster. We encourage every committee to do the same. I would like to invite each webmaster, newsletter editor, and communications chair to contribute their experiences and knowledge to the Region 3 communications committee. The R3-COMM@ieee.org mail list announces our e-conferences. Every interested member is invited to join. Participate either synchronously, using IRC, or asynchronously using email and the IRC log. Together we can continue to improve the techniques and tools available to the Region. Respectfully submitted, Bill Clayton
