Hi Everyone, It is now in the 10th month of year one in my position as Region 3 Director-Elect. (Time does indeed pass quickly when you are having fun.) Various people, who shall remain nameless, warned me that my time would be quickly consumed in a variety of ways. This is not meant to either impress you regarding my work schedule or bend your ear about the adventures of air travel between Savannah and Newark but rather to share some observations acquired these past months. There are several threads that seem to run thru most of the committees and projects that I am currently pursuing... = The need to engage and activate the member. = The need for personal contact ... Keeping humanity at the forefront. = The need to know where we are going, who all is going, and where do I fit in this journey? Several Sections have completed the survey questions sent to you by the Area / Council Chairs and some of the common themes are... = Need to increase attendance at meetings = More volunteers are needed to replace current Section positions. = More ideas are needed for future meeting topics. Once again it would appear that many of the issues parallel my committee experiences. I am confident that together we can find the answers you can take home with you and implement in your section. Between the training that Charles Lord and Adeeb Hamzey are developing and the work on the Region Initiatives, you have an opportunity to contribute, share and absorb ideas - new techniques and contacts of people willing to help. Don't leave Atlanta empty handed. See you on October 27-29 ... Have a safe trip. _ |_)0 |_)||_|_ William B.
