To: Region 3 ExCom Subject: Report for 11 December 2006 Meeting From: William B. Ratcliff, Director-Elect 2006-2007 Since the Region 3 Meeting in Atlanta, 27-29 October, I mentioned the following items in October and they have been proven relevant in my activities since... = The need to engage and activate the member. = The need for personal contact ... Keeping humanity at the forefront. = The need to know where we are going, who all is going, and where do I fit in this journey? I just got back from attending a Recognition Celebration with the Richmond Section. There was no doubt that the "humanity" was at the forefront at that meeting with the commitment of the IEEE Fellows being recognized as well as all of the Members and family that support them. The spirit of IEEE was alive and very active. I want to thank Ralph Russell for the invitation to participate and the members of the Richmond Section for the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas. I find the same spirit whenever and wherever IEEE members congregate( at the Section / Chapter meetings, the Council meetings, the Conferences, the Region meetings, the Board of Directors, the various committees and working groups). How do we engage all of the rest of the Members who do not participate? How do we show them what they are missing? The Initiatives in Region 3 are a part of answering the above questions and will require participation beyond those already involved. Project plans will be circulated before the end of 2006 (in a few weeks). Please consider your involvement. _ |_)0 |_)||_|_ William B.
