Area 1 / Virginia Council

The Virginia Council is in the process of rotating officers. Our first
meeting for 2007 will be held by telephone conference on Wednesday, 24
January. We have gotten commitments to attend from each of the Section
Chairs.

In our conversations to this point, we have discovered that most of the
sections do not have an elected representative to serve as Council
officers. While this is an obvious problem, we counterbalance that with
strong section leadership across the state. We will be examining our
options and develop a way to get our officers legally instated and move
out with the council business including proper submission of our officer
and financial reports.

One of our first priorities will be to work with Charles Lord to
schedule training for our new volunteers. Beyond that we will have to
see what falls out after we finish up with SoutheastCon 2007.
