TREASURER'S REPORT 18 JANUARY 2007 The purposes of this report are to discuss several items related to current Region 3 financial issues; end-of-year 2006 budget, proposed 2007 budget and changes in the chart of accounts to conform to RAB recommendations. 1. Do you believe in miracles? At the end of November, the only question was how much was the 2006 budget deficit going to be. Then the final results for SoutheastCon 2006 showed a share of $16k for the Region. This news was followed by another $16k from RAB listed as an "unspent distribution." The result of these revenues resulted in a sizeable surplus for 2006. The December results are not yet available for the long term investment account. Through November, the increase was over $16k (must be our lucky number). 2. The proposed 2007 budget shows a deficit of $28.6k. Two items should be considered in discussing this deficit. The RAB distribution was received too late to define areas to enhance member services in 2006. The Membership Development Committee request for $10,000 was considered as the 2007 funding for one of the Region initiatives. Although this argument does not meet generally accepted accounting principles, the proposed budget deficit could be considered as significantly reduced by the impact of these two items. The Region 3 Finance Committee recommends approval of the 2007 proposed budget by the Region 3 Executive Committee. 3. If you compare the first draft of the 2007 proposed budget with the attached version, you will note a number of changes in the chart of accounts. These changes were the consensus from discussions among RAB personnel, the RAB treasurer and the 10 Region treasurers. These changes conform to the chart of accounts contained in the L50 form. The final results for the long term investment account should be available before our Monday econference. If you have questions or require additional information, please contact me. Charles E.
