Subject: Area 3 Report for IEEE SECon 2007 Date: Thursday, March 22, 2007 9:22 PM From: Chris Hardy To: , , Cc: Conversation: Area 3 Report for IEEE SECon 2007 Area 3 Report for IEEE SECon 2007 Area 3 consists of three sections within Georgia: the Atlanta Section, the Central Georgia Section, and the Savannah Section. The Atlanta Section continues to serve it's members, including its many chapters, quite well. Of note, the Atlanta Section has a new addition: the Consultants Networking Chapter. This new chapter focuses on bringing together independent consultants regardless of technical specialty. For further information regarding the Atlanta Section of IEEE, please visit their website at: https://www.ieee-atlanta.org/index.php or contact the section chair, Jim Remich, at chair@ieee-atlanta.org . The Central Georgia Section has enjoyed some interesting meetings including a Mercer Physics Department Seminar and a joint meeting in conjunction with the Old Crows symposium in Warner Robins. In January, the section met at Ball Aerospace in Warner Robins to watch a video presentation on the development and engineering leading up to the creation of the dual Deep Impact spacecraft. For more information, please visit the Central Georgia website at https://www.ewh.ieee.org/r3/central_georgia/ or contact the section chair, Rick Noel, at rick.noel@robins.af.mil . The Savannah Section has been actively participating in local science fairs and has stayed active with interesting meetings at the new Georgia Tech - Savannah campus. The Savannah Section serves members from the south-east counties of Georgia and three southern counties in South Carolina. For more information, please visit the Savannah Section website at https://ewh.ieee.org/r3/savannah/index.html or contact the section chair, Scott Hamlin, s.hamlin@ieee.org . On a sad note, the Savannah Section recently lost one of its most cherished members, Mr. Doby Kraft. Many of you knew Doby and I'm sure you will agree his bright personality and HUGE volunteer heart will be missed. I look forward to seeing y'all at the 2007 SouthEastCon conference in Richmond. Respectfully Submitted, Chris Hardy Area 3 Chair (GA), IEEE Region 3 c.hardy@ieee.org
