IEEE Charlotte Section Report - March 2007
 
The officers for 2007 are the same as 2006, except that a new member has
replaced the treasurer, who moved late last year:

In 2006 we held over 20 meetings, many in conjunction with other local
professional organizations. For example, the Charlotte Computer Society
Chapter held meetings with the Charlotte Software Processes Improvement
Network (an SEI organization) and the newly formed Charlotte Agile
Methods group. The Charlotte Communications Society Chapter co-sponsored
the 3rd International Symposium on ‘High Capacity Optical Networks and
Enabling Technologies' (HONET 2006).

Our average attendance was 20 members and 20 guests for technical
meetings.

The section was also a supporter of the UNC Charlotte Senior Design Expo
in December, which was attended by 75 students, 30 faculty member, and
45 business people.

As a service to Region 3, the section also supported a bulk purchase of
IEEE Denim shirts and sold them to other sections at cost.

The section is also working with the NC Council to submit a bid to the
Region 3 conference committee for SoutheastCon 2010.
