To: Region 3 ExCom, Region 3 Sections From: Pat Donohoe, Region 3 Educational Activities Chair Subject: Educational Activities Committee Report Date: 08 March 2007 The Region 3 Educational Activities Committee has selected Clark Nexsen as the winner of the 2006 IEEE Region 3 Employer Professional Development Award. Clark Nexsen is a full-service architecture, engineering, and interior design firm headquartered in Norfolk, Virginia, with branch offices in Alexandria & Roanoke, Virginia and Charlotte & Raleigh, North Carolina. Clark Nexsen recognizes the value of providing high quality continuing education opportunities for its employees and conducts an extensive in-house continuing education program. This program consists of both live seminars and web-based seminars presented by professionals in both academia and industry, and has generated over 1500 professional development hours for approximately 130 Clark Nexsen employees in the past year. In addition to the in-house program, Clark Nexsen supports external professional development opportunities for its employees. As noted by one employee, the result of such an extensive professi onal development program is, "a cadre of motivated, well-informed employees with a great variety of cutting-edge engineering and architectural knowledge." Clark Nexsen will be presented with the 2006 IEEE Region 3 Employer Professional Development Award at the upcoming SoutheastCon 2007 Awards Luncheon in Richmond, VA.
