The Hampton Roads Section held 10 section meetings in 2006. We held 7
regular technical presentation meetings on Jan 26, Feb 16, Mar 16, Apr
20, Sep 21, Oct 19, and Nov 16, 2006. We were fortunate enough to
attract a wide variety of speakers in the fields of computer security,
fiber optics, facial recognition, as well as other topics. Our annual
social event was held on May 20 at the Virginia Aquarium, and our
members enjoyed an afternoon meeting and talking with each other's
spouses and children, a nice change from our regular technical format.
In addition to our abbreviated business meetings at each technical
presentation meeting, we conducted 2 dedicated executive committee
meetings on Aug 14 and Dec 7, 2006 to provide updates on activities and
pass on responsibilities.

Our 2008 priorities include aligning our technical meetings with a new
state requirement for continuing education for licensed engineers and
arranging representation for the section at the Sections Congress
meeting in Quebec City.
