IEEE Mississippi Section Report – October 10, 2007 The 18 January meeting was dinner and a presentation by the Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems at Mississippi State University. The E-Week luncheon held on 16 February in Vicksburg, Mississippi centered on a presentation by ERGON on the future of energy supplies and alternatives. The 22 March meeting was dinner section meeting and a plant tour of Howard Industries substation transformer plant in Ellisville. On 17 April a joint meeting with ASME was held in Ridgeland. The subject was “The Power of Insulation”. A tour and information meeting was held 26 April at Jackson State Engineering Department. Spectrum Control in Wesson was our host for the 24 May meeting. On 31 May Surge Suppression Inc. presented a training program on voltage transients. The section did not meet during the summer. Our 20 September meeting was at Diversified Technologies in Ridgeland. The October meeting will be in Vicksburg at the USACE facilities with a presentation on the DoD High Performance Computer Center. Plans for the 15 November meeting about the cellular industry are underway. Officers for 2008 are being recruited.
