Our section has had remarkable attendance at recent meetings, primarily due to holding them on
the campus of UNC Charlotte and attracting students with food!

Our end-of semester meeting was in conjunction with the NC Section of the IEEE Education
Society. Attendance included about 50 IEEE members and over 250 total. The meeting started with
a exposition of senior design projects and ended with a dinner of prime rib - hmmm! Troy Pate
from United Parcel Service talked about how senior design projects help industry.

Our January meeting was attended by 31 IEEE members, and 61 total. The speaker was Chris
Allport from Defense Technologies, Inc., and he talked about autonomous air, land, and water
vehicles and control stations for these vehicles.

Our section is having difficulty getting industry volunteers - our major leadership is from UNC
Charlotte. Our major goal this year will be to attract more industry participation and
involvement. Our new section leadership will take over next week.
