ENCS Section Chair Report for April 2008 Region 3 Meeting Issues requiring action by the Region 3 Committee or ExCom: none Opportunities for Engaging the member, volunteer, non member, public: Membership development - Publicized the Member Get A Member program on our website; participated in the 2007 Raleigh Computer and Technology Showcase - provided information on IEEE and membership. Senior Members - Continued to encourage applications for Senior Membership - We had 19 new senior members approved in 2007. Professional Development - Continued offering Professional Development credits for technical chapter/section meetings attended. Notable section activities (positive and negative) Meetings - ENCS held 64 section and chapter meetings in 2007. Active Chapters include ACME (Antennas, Components, Microwave Technology, and Electron Devices), Computer Society, Computational Intelligence, Industrial Electronics, Engineering Management, Engineering in Medicine and Biology, Electromagnetic Compatibility, Remote Sensing, Communications Society, Power Engineering, Robotics, and Signal Processing Society. ENCS also sponsors two affiliate groups: Women in Engineering, Embedded Systems. Our Robotics Chapter Chair, Grayson Randall, was awarded the IEEE-USA Citation of Honor for his work with students in the areas of robotics and autonomous vehicles.
