IEEE R3 Member Engagement and Development Report March 24, 2008 The fledgling Member Development committee in Region 3 is still forming and formulating its 'charter'. Patterned on the MGA Board's Member Development Committee, this includes a lot of aspects, all of which aim at one purpose: Engage and support the Member throughout that Member's life cycle. We define 'life cycle' as the entire time from where that person first gets "the Knack" (that moment you take apart your parent's appliances to see how they work) to the time that you stop being an Engineer (roughly about that time we are put in our final resting place). How do we do this? Come to the region meeting at SoutheastCon 2008 in Huntsville and we will be talking about that! Butch Shadwell, my able and talented Vice Chair, will be leading a breakout session on the member lifecycle, and I will leading a session on Education and Training, another important aspect of this endeavor. Come join us! Charles J. Lord, P.E. c.j.lord @ ieee.org
