Central VA Section Report for Region 3 at SC08

The Central VA Section continues to rotate meetings between
Charlottesville, Lynchburg, Waynesboro and Harrisonburg. The large
geographic Section size and increasing gas prices challenge meeting
attendance. For example, over eighty miles separate locations for the next
two Section meetings:
    
    Tenaska combined-cycle power plant, October, in Fluvanna County south
    east of Charlottesville “ Haz Mat Sensor Development”, November, at
    James Madison University (JMU) in Harrisonburg
 
We have mostly abandoned the Section newsletter for member communication
in favor of postcard meeting notices and e-notices referencing the Section
web site.

The Section sponsored an 08 Engineers Night Banquet in Charlottesville.
Engineering societies from the Shenandoah Valley and Roanoke were
represented. We are currently making plans for a bigger and better 09
Banquet. A VMI professor associated with ASHRAE used to be the prime
instigator of the “Valley” Engineers Night Banquet, but it looks like the
ball is in our court now.
