Region 3 Director Elect Report - September 8, 2008 Region 3, In developing a Director Elect report for tonight, I could not think of a more important topic than the Membership Development Web Cast announcement that was just sent out. Region 3 is losing members. Not a major drop but a steady drip, drip, drip. Over time if we don't reverse this trend, we will suddenly realize that our numbers have reduced to the point that you will see big differences in your Section rebate. But it's not only about money. A smaller IEEE in Region 3 reduces the effect of electrical engineering all across the southeast. I don't think it's unfair to say that the ripple effect could show up at companies that are considering locating in the southeast and our ability to promote electrical engineering at a university / high school down the street from where you live. Let's do two things together, - Create a new awareness of the Member Development that is available only through the IEEE - Promote Membership Development to grow our base and the products / services that will come from a bigger and stronger IEEE. I'll talk to you tonight and on the web cast on September 13. Thanks, Lee Stogner Region 3 Director Elect l.stogner@ieee.org P.S. Everyone of us can be a Membership Development volunteer. I've attached the Users Manual to get you started. ********************************************************************************** Region 3 Membership Development Team, Attached is the message announcing the next Membership Development Web Cast. This is probably the most important membership web cast that we will do all year. If you can only make one, this is it for several reasons, - The 2009 Membership Development campaign will be launched by John Day - The Society of the Month campaign will be detailed by Oscar Garcia - Membership Development Kit questions will be answered by Qiana Harder - Monthly membership sales figures will be detailed by Lee Stogner Participation is expected by the Region 3 ExCom and all Membership Chairs from Sections and Student Branches. Our goal is to integrate all of our membership activities and grow the IEEE by 3% in time for the 125th Anniversary in 2009. Please forward this message down to yourRegion 3team. Thanks for your help. Please let me know how we can support your membership growth in 2008, 2009 and beyond. The IEEE is counting on you.
