Past Director's Report
N&A Committee Report

1. The N&A Committee includes past directors Jim Howard and Bill Harrison, with
myself as chair. This complies with the Region 3 bylaws. Our principal task will be
to present a slate of nominees for successor Director-Elect to the Region 3
Committee for its consideration.

2. Anyone interested in serving on the Region 3 Executive Committee in any capacity
is urged to contact us for information about responsibilities and to express
interest.

3. Director Ratcliff has asked for assistance in designating vice chairs for all
Area/Council chairs and for standing committees. We have been only partially
successful in this regard thus far. Areas/councils apparently missing vice chairs
include the Virginia Council, Area 3 (Georgia), Area 6 (Alabama/Mississippi), and
Area 9 (Jamaica). For the twelve standing committees, only four have vice chairs on
record: Communications, Membership Development, Professional Activities Operation,
and Strategic Planning. Other vice chairs that have been designated, but are not
recorded, should be brought to our attention. We will circulate the list at the
Region 3 meeting in Quebec City for corrections and additions.

4. Region 3 liaisons are still sought for IEEE-USA policy committees, including
Communications Policy and Intellectual Policy. Committees meet from four to six
times per year and have provision for teleconferencing so that travel is not
required to participate. Meetings typically last from four to six hours. Inquiries
