IEEE Region 3 Report - SoutheastCon 2010 The contract has been discussed and negotiated with the hotel, and they still like us. The quick features: * We have over 32,000 sq feet of space * Internet access is free in the rooms and in the meeting space * Meal prices are reasonable * Rooms are $149 a night, but include breakfast and a 5:00 to 7:00 manager’s reception (drinks and snacks). These times have been built into our schedule (no overlap of our meals). * We have space for boy/girl scout groups, student-oriented workshops, and company-sponsored tutorials. * We have allowed for 2.5 days of technical papers, should we have lots of submissions. The hardware contest will be worked-on by graduate students this semester. A working prototype will be ready (along with the rules) by SoutheastCon 2009. Attached is a rough schedule of the event, showing parallel sessions. SoutheastCon 2010 Committee members have suggested that the R3 meeting be shorter so they attend some of the student and technical session.
