Many of you stopped by the Corporate Strategy and Communications booth at Sections Congress. If you did, you discovered that IEEE Corporate Communications has bought displays for use by organizational units. If you have not seen them, attached is a scanned copy of the handout that shows typical displays. They are like an old fashion projection screen, only narrow and tall, about 3 x 6 feet. These displays have fixed content which will be updated by the corporate communications. You can have them for free on a first come, first served basis. The idea is that you would request them for specific events and return them when they are not needed. I asked if they had enough to provide 41 for e-week. The response was negative. However, the first come, first served axiom still applies. I have not been able to find anything about these displays on the IEEE web site, however the contact information that was provided at the booth is corporate-communications @ ieee.org or +1 732 562 6820. Dave Bower has offered to request a few for Region business and manage their rotation as needed. The question on the table is: who would use them and what would be the benefit of Region level management? Some ideas that been proffered are to support leadership training or other regular training events. The primary advantage of Regional management is assurance that the displays will be available when needed. The primary disadvantage is volunteer time will be used to manage the distribution and the Region would have to foot the shipping costs. We would like to get feedback from the ExCom. 1. Is there interest in Region 3 managed displays? 2. If so, how many do we need? V/R Bill Clayton w.clayton @ ieee.org Communications Chair
