Area 7 Report for January 2009 Region 3 ExCom

Area 7 Report to Region 3 ExCom for January 12, 2009, meeting SC Council
meeting scheduled for January 25 at which Financial Operations Reviews will
be conducted for all four South Carolina Sections and the SC Council i.a.w.
"Best Business Practices For IEEE Unit Treasurers"

This should help promote L-50 submission by all Sections in time to receive
the membership rebate bonus.

Section Chairs have been urged to submit Officer Reports if there are any
changes in 2009 officer roster. One Section just held their 2009 officer
election last Wednesday; a best practice is being proposed that subsequent
year officer elections should be held during the unit's November meeting
(earlier if no meeting in November).

A number of Student Branch Counselors have changed and are not yet
reflected on unit web pages. Closer engagement is being between Sections
and the Student Branches they sponsor.

With the high number of officer and counselor changes there is a need to
ensure that all leaders are cognizant of their roles and responsibilities
and that they are well educated on the RAB->MGAB transition, Membership
Development, and IEEE125. To that end a special effort is being made to
have all Section Chairs/Treasurers/MD Chairs and Student Branch Counselors
attend the 1/25 Council meeting at which these topics are allotted agenda
time.
