Area 7 / South Carolina Council Report At the January 25 meeting of the IEEE South Carolina Council among the six attendees three of the four area Sections were represented, two officially. Financial Operations Reviews of 2008 activities were conducted for the South Carolina Council, the Carolina Coastal Section, and the Columbia Section. Lee Stogner took the action to perform a review of the Piedmont Section at an early opportunity and the Central Savannah River Section is scheduled for a review during the Area 7 meeting concurrent with SoutheastCon 2009. This brings all geographic organizations in Area 7 into compliance with the published IEEE Treasurer's Best Practices. Columbia Section has sponsored Project Lead the Way, being held at USC March 11, underwriting food for students and judges and is seeking member volunteers to act as judges for the high school team presentations. Pleas for aggressive efforts from all Sections in contacting non-renewing members have not yielded any concrete plans, however some efforts may in fact be being undertaken. The need for such efforts was stressed at the recent Council meeting. John Montague Chair, IEEE South Carolina Council (MGAB, R3, Area 7)
