To: Region 3 ExCom Cc: Region 3 Section Chairs Region 3 Secretary Region 3 SPC From: Dick Riddle, SPC Chair Subject: IEEE R3 ExCom - SPC Report for 3/8/2010 Meeting I am happy to report that the R3 Operations Manual has been updated (Revision 2/8/2010) and sent to the R3 ExCom for their review, comments, and endorsement. Changes included in this revision will bring us into compliance with the R3 Bylaws and MGA Operations Manual requirements if endorsed by the R3 ExCom. This was our goal in this revision. We recognize that all of the changes that could and should be made to the Ops Man have not been included in this revision. However, as in any document you reach a point that you must cut off changes and publish what you have if it accomplishes your major goal. We reached that point on or about 8 February 2010. The document change process that the SPC uses is as follows: When we receive a proposed change to one of the documents that we are responsible for maintaining currency of (R3 Strategic Plan, Bylaws, or Operations Manual) we may agree to make the change if it is in our area of responsibility or forward the proposed change on to the responsible person for comment or resolution. Since we are all volunteers this may take some time for final resolution. If the ExCom endorses the 8 February 2010 revision at our 8 March 2010 meeting we will start processing several proposed changes to that document to be published in a future revision to be available for review in the summer or fall of 2010. One of the duties of the SPC is to assist the Director, Director-Elect, and ExCom in the development of our " Region 3 Consolidated Goals & Objectives". We will start this process at the SPC meeting at SoutheastCon 2010. SPC Mentors have been assigned to work with the Chair of each ExCom Standing Committee to help develop the Goals & Objectives for that committee. We will review our R3 Strategic Plan in light of the FAQ Focus on the Member Paradigm document. It should be an interesting meeting. Respectively submitted Dick Richard L.
