Green, Region 3 Director-Elect Sb: Director-Elect's Report for May ExCom Dt: 5 May 2010 It was sure a pleasure to see everyone at SoutheastCon 2010. Thanks to Jim Conrad and all his team for their efforts on a good trio of events: SoutheastCon, Region 3 Meetings, and Region 3 Student Contest. Repeating an item from my past reports, I would like to visit several of the Area/Councils this year (and others next year) in coordination with Director Stogner's own travel and plans. I think it is important that these contacts occur. I would like to maximize the value of my visits so it would be good to be able to both visit with Council members as well as attend one of the section meetings at the same time if that is possible. For areas without councils, I would suggest that we meet and together attend one of the section meetings. If you are interested and/or have other ideas on how this would be useful -- please let me know. I have now heard from three areas thus far -- thanks. Status of Goals for 2010: * Finish the migration of duties accumulated while Region 3 Secretary to the new secretary or others as appropriate - Complete (unless Gregg Vaughn tells me differently) * Visit at least four Area/Councils - Received two invitations * Actively participate on Region 3 Committee, the ExCom, and Region 3 Committees as appropriate and required - Continuing * In support of and in coordination with Director Stogner and the 2010 Region 3 Goals and Objectives, enable and encourage Region 3 committees to be effective in fulfilling their charter. - Continuing As an action report for 2010 since my last report, I have * Encouraged financial and other reporting to keep units off probation (thanks to all for your assistance and efforts) * Assisted Secretary Vaughn in start up activities * Continued other non-Region 3 IEEE duties (Secretary, Past Treasurer, ITTC, vTools and related activities) * Met the new IEEE CIO and new IEEE CFO in activities related to the above * Collaborated with SPC Chair Riddle on the Operations Manual revisions * Assisted Director Stogner as requested
