Report to Region 3 Leadership Development August 2, 2010 Work continues on the IEEE Center for Leadership Development which will eventually provide the complete training for both positional (job) training for all IEEE volunteer positions but also for the leadership qualities training that Region 3 has been known for providing to our volunteer leaders. I am currently in charge of developing the "standard" level training for the core section officers (Chair, VC, Secretary, and Treasurer) as well as chapter chair and key committee chairs. In 2011 we will continue to add positions for not only MGA positions but will begin to add for societies, standards, etc. The Quick Start Training for section positions is in place - please share the following with all new officers in your sections as they come on board! https://www.ieee.org/societies_communities/geo_activities/officer_training/quick_start.html You can stay current with the progress of the CLE at our home page: https://www.ieee.org/societies_communities/geo_activities/officer_training/index.html I will also be working with the employment assistance committee to develop training for our section chairs in helping them build networks and engage their local members and outside resources to meet Director Stogner's goal of getting our members (and future members!) employed. I have held meetings with some of the existing resources including R6 DE Ed Perkins who has been a member of the CWPC, a major provider of employment workshops in the IEEE-USA (they are heading up the workshop in Cocoa Beach on Oct 16 and will be providing material for our workshop that you will be hearing about to be held as part of our Fall meeting in ATL on October 2). As our areas and councils plan possible fall meetings, consider holding some leadership workshops as part of your meeting. As always, we offer to come and provide training to your local volunteers.
