Green, Region 3 Director-Elect Sb: Migration of Region 3 OnLine Community to New Service Dt: 28 July 2010 The Region 3 Virtual Community at https://www.ieeecommunities.org/region3 along with all of the other IEEE Online Communities served by the Ramius CommunityZero software product is being migrated to the Ramius Sixent product. The new IEEE system is known as the IEEE Sixent Enterprise platform. The auto migration effort is underway and is scheduled to be complete by July 30th for inspection by the founders of the original sites. The sites are supposed to be open for migrated users around 9 August. The auto migration is not perfect so there will be some adjustments necessary before opening the site. Some additional corrections will probably be needed as we all discover how things work and how we want to work with this new tool. I hope this new platform proves useful and becomes the Region's asynchronous tool of choice. We have about 14 times more space in this system at startup than we did in the prior system. While it will be different, I hope you will also find the site more flexible and well as more useful. We have been told that New User registrations in CommunityZero Site will no longer be migrated and incorporated into the IEEE Sixent enterprise product so we have ceased approving membership requests in the old system. The original site will be available in "read/write" mode during August. However, any data or content posted in the CommunityZero-based site after 19 July will not be (automatically) moved to the new site. The original site will be available in "read only" mode September 2010 through October 2010. Your IEEE Web account username and password will be the credentials to use on the new site. If you have logged into the old community since 1 July 2009 and before 14 June 2010, or if you are the "owner" content on the old site, your membership in the Region 3 site will be migrated. If not, you will need to rejoin (but that should be straight forward.) The URL for the new site will be announced at the meeting Monday night but the site won't be available until approximately 9 August. Training will also be available with details to be announced at a later time.
