IEEE East Tennessee Section Report October 1, 2010

No issues requiring Region 3 attention.

Section Activities:

1. The section is helping with local support and activities for the 2010 IEEE
NSS/MIC to be held in Knoxville, October 30 - November 6, 2010.

2. The section has several technical meetings planned for the fall, with a
session on patents in September, a presentation and tour of a local design and
fabrication facility in October, and a presentation by several local Lego
League teams in December. A number of other meetings are in planning at
present.

3. The section will be active in the 2011 National Engineers Week in February,
support of the UTK Southeast Con competition,in April, the Southern
Appalachian Science and Engineering Fair in March, and local Science Olympiads
activities. We are supporting three middle school Lego League teams.

4. The section continues to support the student branches and student
activities at the University of Tennessee and at Pellissippi State Community
College, and encourages students to participate at conferences and present
papers. The section has partially supported several students for conference
related participation.
