Summer is almost here!  Actually, in most ways -- temperature, vacations,
school's out, and pausing of most sections' programs, etc. summer has already 
arrived.  As leaders in IEEE Region 3, we can use this time to catch up, regroup
and plan programs.  I urge the committee chairs to stay in contact with 
committee members and Area/Council Chairs to touch base with their 
Sections so that we can facilitate IEEE activities that engage the members 
and further the aims of IEEE.

The final recommendations from Region 3 were submitted to MGA prior to the
deadline.  These recommendations are posted on the Region 3 On-Line Community.
Thanks to everyone who helped with their formation, refinement, and a 
special thanks to those who are serving as contacts/advocates as MGA continues
their process.  We expect to hear the results of the aggregation and 
potential clarification of the collection of all recommendations sent in
by the Regions around 1 August 2011.

Thanks to everyone who is helping in those communities that have been
struck by tornados and other disasters this year.  Some members (and leaders)
in our sections have been impacted and I hope we are able to support them
as they rebuild and recover.  

Goals for 2011:

* Work on a planning effort for Region 3 to encompass Sections Congress, MGA,
 Region 3 and its sections (in progress)
* Visit at least four Area/Councils (invitations?)
* Actively participate on Region 3 Committee, the ExCom, and Region 3
 Committees as appropriate and required (continuing)
* In support of and in coordination with Director Stogner and the 2011 Region 3
 Goals and Objectives, enable and encourage Region 3 committees to be
 effective in fulfilling their charter. (in progress)

As an action report for 2011 since my last report, I have

* Filed the Region 3 Sections Congress Recommendations
* Reviewed interim revision of SoutheastCon proposal
* Participated in clarification of Region 3 Sections Congress Congress funding support
* Participated on MGA vTools Committee
* Participated on MGA Strategic Direction and Environmental Assessment
 Committee
* Participated in the MGA Metropolitan Workshop Meetings
* Participated in several activities associated with being a Past Secretary,
 Past Treasurer, and member of several IEEE Committees
