I am looking forward to seeing many of you at Sections Congress 2011.  This
should be an exciting, educational, and engaging event for all of us.  Please
take notes and bring back all that you can for sharing and use within your
organizations.   

Two of the four Region 3 Sections Congress Recommendations were sufficiently
close to others to merit combination.  Butch Shadwell and I reviewed (and
accepted) the suggestions relative to the communications recommendation on 
with the provision that the Region 3 elaboration would be supplied to all.
Mary Ellen Randall and I OK'ed combining the Career Transition recommendation
with others since the Region 3 wording was added to.

Director Stogner and I proposed a tool for assisting Region and Section 
leaders in sending personalized e-mail as part of the MGA R1-6 initiative.
The activity includes choosing the tool(s), forwarding servers, and 
preparing documentation and training.  We are funded to work on this in
2011.  Anyone who is interested in this should contact me.  I assume
that the Region 3 Communications Committee will provide leadership for
this project.

There is a an IEEE Region 3 Facebook page and an r3ieee Twitter account.  These
are experimental but please feel free to suggest how we can use them to
engage the member.

Goals for 2011:

* Work on a planning effort for Region 3 to encompass Sections Congress, MGA,
 Region 3 and its sections (in progress)
* Visit at least four Area/Councils (invitations?)
* Actively participate on Region 3 Committee, the ExCom, and Region 3
 Committees as appropriate and required (continuing)
* In support of and in coordination with Director Stogner and the 2011 Region 3
 Goals and Objectives, enable and encourage Region 3 committees to be
 effective in fulfilling their charter. (in progress)

As an action report for 2011 since my last report, I have

* Participated in MGA Metro Area Workshop planning in support of 
 Huntsville Section
* Participated in MGA R1-6 Rejuvenation and R3 Communications Proposal
* Participated in Section Congress Recommendation Responses
* Reviewed interim revision of SoutheastCon proposal
* Participated on MGA vTools Committee
* Participated on MGA Strategic Direction and Environmental Assessment
 Committee
* Attended IEEE Board Series in June
* Participated in several activities associated with being a Past Secretary,
 Past Treasurer, and member of several IEEE Committees
